Become Part of our Foster Care Program
The Rancho Cucamonga Animal Care and Adoption Center often receives animals that are too young, too sick, or not socialized enough to be adopted out. Foster care volunteers take these animals into their home, providing a safe environment for them to mature, become more socialized, or heal from existing wounds or illness. Some need to be fostered for only a few days, while others may need extended care. Need is especially great during the spring/summer kitten season, when pregnant cats and mothers with litters of kittens are brought to the Animal Care and Adoption Center. Until the kittens are old enough to be weaned and separated from the mother, they cannot be put up for adoption. Foster care is invaluable to these animals and the Center is urgently seeking interested, qualified volunteers to participate in this life-saving program.
How to Become a Foster Care Volunteer
Interested foster care volunteers must first submit a completed Foster Care Application. The Community Programs Coordinator will review each application and, if approved, contact the applicant to schedule a foster care training session. The Center provides food, pet supplies, medication, veterinarian care, and ongoing support and advice. Transport of animals and supplies can be arranged by Center Staff for volunteers unable to come to the Animal Care and Adoption Center. Foster care givers must be able to provide a clean, safe environment in which to care for the animal(s).
